Fried pickles are good I guess. I’m not usually a fan of a lot of fired things, with beignets as the exception. Six bucks for a tray of fried pickles is a little much but I guess it’s alright since it was somewhat of a fair-food type of thing. The turkey leg was a little dry and eight bucks is about normal as well. The purple cup was filled with coconut limemaid. It tasted almost like the Vietnamese coconut jelly drinks, and if you can’t relate to that then it also tasted like a melted coconut sno cone. The funnel cake was very greasy and literally tasted like a giant ball of grease covered in powdered sugar. We didn’t even finish a good chunk of it between five people and ended up throwing the rest in the trash. The kettle corn was great and probably the only thing worth getting from the St. Patrick’s Pickle Day Parade in Mansfield, Texas. Apparently, this parade occurs annually but I don’t think I would go again for a good twenty years until I have a family of my own I’s want to take. On a side note, I had wanted to buy a pig. They were only $50, but I din’t have the cash and I don’t think my mother would’ve appreciated a pig in the house.
My outfit, yet again was the wrong choice. I wore a green flowey blouse that matched everything in the parade and even the guy in a giant pickle suit, but my shoes killed my feet. We ended up having to park really far because we didn’t exactly know where the parade was taking place and the walk up and down hills in muddy/ grassy areas was not okay. On the drive home my feet were still sore.
Post pickle day parade we went to Mellow Mushroom for pizza and it was AMAZING! The Thai Dye pizza pictured below under the other pizza tasted like a savory curry chicken with cucumbers and spinach to add a fresh garden taste. The pizza was above was a small pizza that we created ourselves with just mozzarella, sausage, and spinach. It was delicious! Personally, I enjoyed the one we made ourselves over the Thai Dye pizza (probably due to the fact that I don’t like curry). But, if you’re a fan a curry I think you’d definitely enjoy the bottom pizza the best!
